Leaning On Our Common Humanity
It feels daunting to write a blog right now. As we sit down to pen our thoughts to you, our community, we find ourselves at a loss of which direction to go with it, as there feels to be an avalanche of emotions and uncertainty. And then we realize, sharing that we are feeling all the feels too is exactly what we should be sharing now - because we know you’re right there with us.
There is no time in our modern history quite like right now, as we very quickly adapt to the global pandemic. And on any given day, our monkey brains are jumping all over the place: How should we pivot in the business? Where (and how) do we buy groceries now? How exactly did that video show us to sanitize our cardboard boxes? How do we juggle work and now full-time childcare, schooling, pet care, family care? Are we doing too much? Too little?
We can find ourselves slipping into a scarcity mindset, that of “not enough”. It's easy enough to slip into on the best of days, let alone during a global pandemic (two words: toilet paper). And we are actively working to manage those scarcity stories right now.
With our monkey brains, with our scarcity stories, with our fear and uncertainty of what we do next - how do we manage through this time? And then we remember.
OUR VALUES.
We remember the work we do to help leaders and organizations, and how at the core of our work and support to leaders, is helping them figure out what matters most and practice value-based leadership. We are at our best when we put our value system front and center, and let that guide us. For us here at MP6, those values are authenticity, connection, and generosity.
We lean hard on those now. Those are our true north right now, guiding us through this time. It helps us distill what actions we want to take through the noise. It helps us gut check our decisions, our offerings, our pivots. They are a grounding force, a talisman.
And so, we ask you - what are your core values? What are the top 2 that really drive your decision making when waters get murky? Keep those front and center to help be your true north during challenging times. We promise, it helps.
