Meet Rachel

MS, PCC, CDTLF, Leadership Coach and Facilitator

Rachel Verlik is a warm, dynamic, and down-to-earth coach and facilitator—partnering with individuals, teams, and organizations to identify goals and mitigate challenges to achieve those goals. She facilitates a variety of leadership development programs, including design, development, and delivery of a 9-month cohort-based leadership development program. Rachel is well known to create strong community cohesion and transformational learning in these programs.

In her coaching practice, Rachel has a practical, results-oriented approach, focused on her philosophy of coaching the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. She works with clients to identify their values and deconstruct their internal stories in order to discover new possibilities and help clients reach their desired futures. Her interest areas are mid-level leaders, courage, career transitions, resiliency, communication, confidence, emotional intelligence, and new/emerging leadership development programs.

Rachel has over 20 years of business experience, including 13 years of federal service as both an independent contributor and as a leader. She has served at agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her roles have included Project Manager (in both IT and HR), Leadership and Organizational Development Specialist, Assistant Director, and Chief of Staff positions. Her expertise was crucial when serving with organizations that were experiencing major systemic and organizational change after national events such as 9/11 and the 2008 financial crisis.

Rachel holds a Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University and a Masters in e-Commerce from George Mason University. She also studied at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain, as well as the Federal Executive Institute. Rachel completed the highly acclaimed Leadership Coaching Certificate Program at Georgetown University. She is a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Rachel is a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, trained by and based on the work of Dr. Brené Brown. She has several certifications, including DiSC, The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Leadership Circle 360, EQ-I 2.0, EQ-I 360, and as a Global Career Development Facilitator. Rachel has worked with all cabinet-level agencies in the federal government as well as with clients in nationally recognized companies such as Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), McKinsey, and Turner Construction.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time outdoors (mostly in her vegetable garden), with her dog, friends and family, or at a baseball game. Rachel blogs for the Huffington Post in areas of mental well-being.

 What People Are Saying

“Rachel [Verlik] lets her clients explore what's important to them by asking the right questions that provide insight into what they are holding onto. Most importantly—no better way to say it—but she is REAL. She reminds us that failure is a safe learning ground, and she motivates us to take the next steps because we've all been there.”

–Fortune 100 retail leader

“I love Rachel's coaching style. As an extreme extrovert, I need a lot of space to think things through. Rachel is masterful at creating the space for me to explore my own questions and ideas. Working with Rachel helped me really get to the core of some challenges. Our work together marked an important inflection point for me.”

–Senior Manager, McKinsey & Company

MP6: Behind the Name

As a child, Rachel fell in love with the water. Summers would be spent outdoors and by the water. Like many others, Rachel gains clarity, relaxation, and perspective when by the sea. At MP6, we are big believers that new ideas are realized in the natural world.

Rachel’s favorite place to rejuvenate is the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The first time she went to the Outer Banks was September 2001. She was at Milepost 6 (MP6) when the planes hit the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field. It serves as a reminder to keep things in perspective, to develop resiliency, and to balance mind, body, and spirit. We charge hard at work but remember to always balance that with time spent with family, friends, and loved ones; and to take time to nourish our own energy so that we have more to give. This philosophy resonates in our coaching and consulting practice.

Let us help you identify your unique mileposts and how to meet them on your journey.
