Who is the leader you want to be in 2023?

If you ask successful leaders about what has led to their success, you might hear about education, experiences, and mentorship. Perhaps they will share that it has been a combination of preparation and timing. But increasingly, we see the most successful leaders have a strong habit of intention setting and reflective introspection. Whether through meditation, a quiet morning routine, journaling, or a run, introspection allows leaders to gain objective insight as “observers of self”, allowing for adjustments and redirections to show up as their highest self. It allows us to reconnect with our intentions, calibrating as needed.

Through these techniques, many successful leaders set daily intentions. There is no “right” way to do this. Need some starters? See below for some reflective questions to start or use throughout the day:

  • What is keeping my brain busy today?

  • Who is the leader/person I want to show up as today?

  • What am I excited about today?

  • What might trip me up or get in my way today? How do I want to handle that?

  • What does my best and highest self want?

  • How am I doing at meeting my (or our) monthly/quarterly/annual goals?

  • Where might I need to ask for help? Where might I do less?

  • Am I living into my values? How can I use my values to create solutions rather than solely problem-solve?

Who is the leader you want to be in 2023? Or today? Or even in this one meeting? Pick one or two of these or create your own.
