What energy are you bringing to your leadership?

One of the reasons we love the work we do here at MP6 Consulting is because we get to work with such passionate, smart, driven, wholehearted individuals and teams every day. We see leaders leaning into their values, intelligence, and vision to drive themselves, their teams, and their organizations to great success.

And as we reflect on the conversations we have had lately, on a myriad of topics, one concept that continues to arise is knowing how hard and when to continue to push to make our desired success happen.

Whether it’s a new business venture, a job search, or a rollout of a big organizational initiative, our Western society tends to encourage and embrace action. Do more, try harder, try a different way. All helpful and necessary - until it’s not. And it’s challenging to step away from the doing - not only does it give us agency over our destiny, but our society rewards it.

Enter the masculine/feminine polarity. This is not about our biology, this is about our energy. We all have both and we all need to tap into both.

What is the difference between masculine and feminine energy? Masculine energy is about drive, control, action, and pushing forward. It’s about planning, executing, and making things happen. Feminine energy shows as more of a “being” state. It’s about leaning back, allowing for creativity, flow, and receptivity. It’s about listening to the undercurrents and being receptive to events and actions unfolding, seeing and encouraging possibilities.

Think of masculine energy as “DOING”, and feminine as “BEING.” We need both to be successful. Innovation is often born from periods of being - consider the “being” phase as allowing the ideas and new ways of doing to come in! Might you consider that the “BEING” is actually just as critical for success as is the DOING? Try it out and let us know!
