MP6 Consulting Celebrates 5 years of Business!

How did 5 years pass so quickly!? We’ve been reflecting on the course of MP6 - where we’ve been, where we are now, where we are going.

Have there been hard times in the business? You betcha - some of which brought us to our knees in tears questioning our decisions. Would we trade any of them? Nope, not a chance (well, maybe a couple if we are being honest…) But as we reflect over our evolution, we see a few learnings and trends emerge:

Fear doesn’t go away. It seems like a cliché - but the fear really doesn’t go away if you are doing something that matters. Five years in, the fear is still there. We can ask ourselves “Am I enough?”  “What if I don’t make it?”  “What if I fail?” The difference now? We renegotiated our relationship with fear. We allow it to inform us rather than hinder us. We seek its wisdom, invite it in, befriend it, get curious - and then we take a deep breath and do the dang thing.

Hard times are temporary - if you allow them to be. Over the course of our 5 years in business, we have experienced 2 presidential transitions, a lengthy furlough, racial reckoning, hard projects, an insurrection, and a pandemic. We’ve also experienced successful launches of new programs, clients who have been promoted and grown through our work together, an increase in our work with international clients, and a clarity of who we are, what we represent, and where we are best being called to serve our clients. The hard times sharpened the stone for clarity.

When you are brave you will fall. And fall we have. While there surely have been victories, there have been lots of falls as well. We have learned to accept this. We go back into the arena. And we do so by leaning on self compassion and our support section. Which leads us to our next thought...

Asking for help is not a weakness. Let us be clear. There is NO successful entrepreneur (or any journey, frankly) that does it alone. NO ONE. There are countless conversations, support, and “Hey, can I run this by you” conversations that are unseen. Find your people, your “board of directors”, who can help you sort through it all. Find your people who can bring you Gatorade and Band-aids when you need to catch your breath on the sidelines. These are your people.

Values are a north star. They really do matter. In a journey of any kind, one will inevitably be asked to confront challenges and issues as we navigate our forward direction. And time and again - we noticed when we returned to our values, what really mattered to us - this became a north star in terms of the decision we should make.

And now, we take these learnings, these experiences, and these wisdoms - and we pay it forward to those looking for support and expertise in their own journey.
