Empower & Elevate

Do we let others limit our dreams, our ambitions, and our destiny? And if so - how do we acknowledge, readjust, or dismantle those limits? Where are our voices quiet?

This question has been percolating for us, as the last month has been a busy one here at MP6, serving and supporting many groups and individuals through facilitation and coaching. One of the recurring themes arising is how our stories hold us back -whether based on truth, lived experiences, safety (or perceived safety), or outdated narratives.

What is the cost? Happiness. Innovation. Inclusion. The world benefits from your “you-ness.”   These are not an exhaustive list - just a few aspects that demonstrate the cost of denying the world of our brilliance. And while there are many diverse reasons behind this, what we see is that organizations and communities are missing out on untapped solutions, diverse perspectives, and peace.

In our roles as leaders, employees, citizens, family members, etc. - here are some reflections to help raise our voices for ourselves and others:

  • Where am I holding myself back?  Be curious about why (without judgment!)

  • What is possible if I take a step in a different direction?

  • What resources, accountability, help, or support do I need to take that step

  • Where can I elevate the voices of my team or those around me?

  • How does holding myself back reconcile with my values and purpose?

  • Who can we find in our corner to lift us up? To empower us?  And how can we in turn pay that forward?

As you consider the above - also consider that you likely have all you need already within. Elevate your voice, do the thing - and elevate those around you too. We have much work to do in this world towards equity and justice, yet the only way forward IS forward.
