Are You Operating from Scarcity?

What is a scarcity mindset? Essentially, it is a feeling of not having or being enough*. In some cases, this mindset actually causes us to stay stuck in a loop, often resulting in a self-fulfilling prophecy. There IS less because we create environments that ensure less is available.

A scarcity mindset can be seductive. It is easier at times to stay stuck in “not enoughness” than to face the potential of fear, uncertainty, and disappointment. It keeps us small and “safe” - safe at least of what we know - ensuring we survive, yet not thrive. We create a story around our limitations and we accept that story as truth.

Until it doesn’t work out for us any longer…until some part of us yells, and cries out for more. These are the moments to consciously shift to abundant mindsets, those of possibilities, and a new way forward.

How do we make this shift? We find those moments where we can be an observer of self and make a pause. Here are 3 steps to try on during that pause:

  1. Check your Stories: What stories are you holding on to? How can you reality-check them? Sometimes we have been listening to stories for so long we accept them as truth yet they are not. Find a trusted partner, friend, or helping professional to help kindly challenge you.

  2. Consider Limiting Beliefs: What beliefs may no longer be serving you? Where might they be holding you back? Identify beliefs that may be keeping you small and enmeshed in the self-fulfilling prophecy of not enough.

  3. Tune into your body: So much of our figuring out is “neck up”. Yet our physical body is always providing us with cues. How can we embody bravery, and abundance, literally taking up space?

Try these steps and let us know how they work! Or reach out to us to explore ways we can help you unlock these.

*Please note: this is different than truly not having enough for a basic living (food, money, housing, etc.) A shift in mindset may be helpful but we recognize that mindset shifts are different than meeting basic human needs.
